I'm Tired, Great Music, Bad Hair and Supplements

Well, it's fair to say that I haven't been a prolific blogger this week.
So sorry for the unexcused absences.

I have been really busy doing stuff. You know, the nameless list of unexplainable things we get caught up in? It's been a terribly busy week for my job (the one that pays the electric bill). And I might add, that it hasn't been just busy, it's been absolutely draining.

I may have fallen asleep at the computer one or eleventy times. The draining part is mostly because it involves the kind of work I don't feel like doing right now. Actually, it's the kind of work I don't feel like doing, most of the time. (Involving treks across the countryside to do title research and time away from my kids. Ew.) I have also been extra tired from the lack of sleep that comes from frequent hot flashes. I have little more to say on that topic. I am that old. Sigh.

It looks like this phase of the work process may take some time, so I'm trying desperately to get organized enough to plan ahead for some blog posts! What a novel idea, huh?

If you've known me for any length of time, you know that there are several things I am good at...and planning ahead is not one of them. Dishes is another one...well.. housework in general, but I can write about that some other day. I like to think of myself as a Mary, not a Martha. I can sit and read, study, pray and sing for hours...

In my defense, I'd like to point out that I have done a great deal of work behind the scenes on the blog. I have done loads of research and tweaking codes and all that other boring stuff that makes a blog happen in real life.

Because I have been so swamped, I'd just like to mention a few things in a list, because, well, I want to get the information out there, and I don't really have time to make it all into several posts. So here goes:

THE LIST:

Number 1.

If you live anywhere in or near the Ozark Mountains, you should check out my friend's band as soon as you can. Brick Fields is truly one of my favorite groups ever (and I'm not just saying that because I'm biased).

Brick Fields style of Ozark Gospel Blues is it's own kind of wonderful. Rachel Fields has a voice that obviously came straight from heaven (You may detect a twinge of envy in my statement, but I am laying it down at the foot of the cross...really) and she also plays the flute like a boss. I play the flute, but never have I had someone get up and say they cried while I was playing, which just happened at Rachel's performance last week. Seriously (And it was a man that said it! Do men usually cry while flutes are being played?).

Number 2.

If you ever forget to take care of yourself, like I do, you may take comfort in knowing that I look worse than you do right at this very moment. My hair looks like something out of a zombie movie and my eyes are puffy and swollen from all the pollen floating around this week. Frizzle keeps asking me if I am ok, which is so sweet that I wish something really was wrong. So I answer him by holding out my arms for a hug and then after I get the hug, I tell him it's only allergies & exhaustion. It's my love language, don't judge.

Number 3.

In spite of my obvious need to style my hair and take antihistamines, I have been taking care of my other health issues, to the best of my ability. I have been taking all of my supplements every day (it's a bunch, ya'll), and that includes a new-to-me brand of omega 3's. Omega 3's are a big deal in supporting my joints, hormones (hot flashes, anyone?), brain function (foggy brain), healthy cholesterol and some lingering anxiety issues.

I was given a free bottle of Life & Food's Omega-3 Supreme to try, in exchange for my honest opinion, so here is my opinion: These are the only fish oil Omega 3's that I have ever tried that don't give me fish burps! They are easy to swallow and GMO, filler, binder and additive free. So basically, they are exactly the kind of supplements that I usually shop for. I've also been sharing them with Frizzle and one of the kiddos and I've noticed a remarkable difference in the child's behavior (the kiddo, not Frizzle) this week. I am thinking the fish oil softgels are helping him concentrate better. If you take omega 3's you should consider this brand. I don't get compensated if you buy them, but my honest opinion is that they are great quality and fairly priced.

Last but Not Least, Number 4.

I have been reading over on Shannan Martin's blog, Flower Patch Farmgirl, lately. I am loving her realness, her passion and her commitment to her beautiful children. Hop over there when you can, and read about the tough choices she feels God has asked her to make, and laugh and cry with her through the adventures.

That's about it, folks. This week is a wrap, and I am pretty well spent. Hopefully tonight will involve some movies with my man, Frizzle, and some extra sleep.
